Sylvia Plester-Silk
Founder, Team Dynamics Institute
Sylvia founded the Team Dynamics Institute, a division of On Purpose Consulting, in 2012 driven by her passion for healthy workplaces.
She spent 16 years working as a therapist, Social Worker and Addictions Counsellor in the healthcare industry. And another 15 years in Private Practice as a Therapist. She worked as a standardized patient and simulated client at the University of Guelph and Waterloo. Sylvia’s experience and expertise in mental health and workplace dynamics gives her a valuable perspective on what makes teams work.
She has a unique ability to help people find a deeper purpose in their lives and work. Combined with her playful and direct approach, Sylvia brings out team dynamics issues and facilitates a swift collaborative resolution. She is an important catalyst for engagement and performance improvements.
Sylvia has sat on several boards including; Guelph Women in Networking (President), Guelph Youth Music Centre, Community for Offender Reconciliation and Diversion (Executive Committee), and CAPS (Canadian Association of Professional Speakers), Toronto Chapter. As a proud member of the CAPS, she is a graduate and the 2012 Chair of the Pro-Track Speakers Academy. She also graduated from the Improv Program at Second City, Toronto and trains others in improv skills for team dynamics.
She graduated with a B.S.W. from Ryerson University. She is a Trainer at the Pharmacy Examining Board of Canada.
